Cracow Harp Quintet
The CRACOW HARP QUINTET features harpist Adrian Nowak, flutist Magdalena Di Blasi, violinist Barbara Mglej, violist Jan Czyżewski, and cellist Paweł Czarakczew. United by a shared passion, they perform across Poland and internationally, achieving recognition such as second prize at the VII Iberian Chamber Music with Harp Competition in Madrid in 2019. As Poland’s only professional chamber ensemble with this unique instrumentation, the quintet promotes works composed for the legendary Quintette Instrumental de Paris. Their performances are noted for the “softness of French interpretation” and a “fullness and variety of sound equal to a symphony orchestra.”
Their repertoire focuses on late 19th and early 20th-century compositions, particularly French impressionist pieces by composers like Jean Cras, Jacques Pillois, and Marcel Tournier. They also highlight works by Polish composers such as Aleksander Tansman. Continuously expanding their musical range, the ensemble creates original arrangements and engages in projects that transcend traditional classical music boundaries. Their debut album, Hommage, was released in May 2022 by DUX Label.
The quintet has performed at esteemed festivals, including Arpa GRAZiosa in Graz, the inaugural Music at the Czartoryski Museum festival in Cracow and Forum Neue Musik in Berlin. Beyond performances, the Cracow Harp Quintet collaborates with composers who dedicate new works to them, enriching their diverse repertoire. They also engage in partnerships with various organizations and individuals to promote and support their artistic endeavors.
